There are some scholarships targeted specifically for black women that we've listed on this page. These scholarships for black women are offered through the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs. They are open to African American women studying journalism, economics, or a related field in college. Must be a college sophomore or junior to apply, with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Essay required. These scholarships for African American women are open to black women from designated southern states who are studying business at a college or university in any state. Must be a resident of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, or West Virginia. Must be a business major with a GPA or 3.0 or higher, and be a college sophomore or junior. Essay required. Award Amount $5000 per year (multiple awards)
These scholarships for African American women and men are open to full-time juniors, seniors, and graduate students majoring in business. Must be in the top 20% of their class and submit an essay about their life’s ambitions. This is a merit-based scholarship and financial need is not required. Award Amount $1000 - $2500 (multiple awards)
These nursing scholarships for African American women are also available to other minorities. Open to current students enrolled in nursing or pre-nursing fields and must be committed to providing quality health care to underserved populations. Scholarship requirements include academic achievement, and involvement in student nursing organizations and community health activities. Financial need is considered.
